Reprinting the First Edition of the Urantia Book

An Instant Heirloom

Until now, readers who want a first edition of The Urantia Book must search far and wide and pay dearly–currently $700 to $800 or more for used copies. This makes it especially difficult for scholars, scientists, theologians, and serious students who need to verify the timeliness of the information as stated in the 1955 first edition.

For example, Dr. Mark A. S. McMenamin, professor of geology at Mount Holyoke College, published a book titled: The Garden of Ediacara, Discovering the First Complex Life (Columbia University Press, 1998). In this study, Dr. McMenamin makes some remarkable references to The Urantia Book.

He wrote to a Urantia Book reader with this inquiry: “If [The Urantia Book] was written in 1955, parts of it are strikingly ahead of their time. I could only locate the 1984 edition; can you confirm that pages 664-671 appeared as is in the 1955 edition?”

If the authentic 1955 inviolate text were available at a reasonable cost it would greatly facilitate complying with Dr. McMenamin’s request. Urantia Foundation published 10,000 copies of the inviolate text of The Urantia Book in 1955. It never again published the original inviolate text of The Urantia Book; changes were made in all printings of The Urantia Book after 1955.
